My 1st "CVSing" trip

I kept hearing about people that go "CVSing" and I wanted to know how. So I went to Southern Savers and found out how. You may want to after I tell you about this trip. I had 2 different transactions...

first transaction

• 2- Huggies diapers for 2/$17.98 (on sale normally 2/$23.98)
• when you buy 2 Huggies diaper you get $5 ECB (Extra Care Bucks- CVS money)
• coupons used- 2 $3 off 1 Huggies diapers
• my total.... $13.42

second transaction

• 1 Gillette Power Fusion Razor- $11.99
• 1 Gillette Power Fusion Razor refill 4ct- $15.99
• when you buy 2 Gillette Power Fusion items you get $5 ECB
• coupons used- 1/$4 off Gillette Fusion razor, 1 buy 1 Gillette Fusion refill get the razor for free, 1 $5ECB (from transaction 1)
• my total before coupons $27.98...... total after coupons $9.23
• plus I got another $5 ECB for another day

This was just my first trip I spent $22.65 and saved $51.96, plus that $5 ECB for another trip. If you want to learn how to CVSing go to Southern Savers. She will help you out and get you started.

A Really, Really Early BOGO

Due to the fact Publix is closed on Sunday for Easter, the new BOGO/sales won't start until April 5th. They do this when ever there is a holiday they are closed. So last week's sale will carry over until Saturday, the 3rd and the new one will start the 5th. I'm not sure about the "penny item" for this week, when I find that out I'll let you know. For all of you that say you "I don't enough time." Well not this week you have the rest of this week for last week's sale to get what you need and you have this whole week to prepare for next's weeks sale. Which will run until the 13th; so you should be ready.

Fun Friday

I have noticed something. You can spot the children of couponers. They know not to ask for something in the store unless it's on sale and/or Mom has a coupon. While my children were in the tub a few nights ago, my oldest ask "Is shampoo on sale?". My husband over heard what he said, he told me I was corrupting our children. In some way it's nicer in the store now, because my child knows I don't like to buy anything unless it's on sale and/or I have a coupon. I'm not corrupting; I'm creating budge friendly men.

I found this at Southern Savers...

Starting Sunday you will find a new booklet of in store coupons at Walgreens. Remember these coupons can be used with manufacturer coupons to help you save even more.

These booklets are kept with the weekly ads as you walk in the door.

My Shopping Trip for the Week

This week took a little more preparing than usual. I wanted to use as many Rite Aid Coupons as I could because they exp on the 31 of this month. So as I was adding up each of the items (before coupons) once I reach $25 I clipped the coupons I needed for those items together with the RA coupon. I had 3 transactions, 3 RA coupons, and 3 penny item coupons. How cool was that? There were a few things that made My Really Cool Savings list. The main thing I did was stock up on some toiletries for us. So my totals after the 3 transactions were: spent $74.26 and saved was $137.91. Not to bad, this trip. Another Early BOGO

Michelle at IHP has posted possible BOGOs for next week. This is great for early planning. I really didn't look at it to well and the rest of the sale items aren't list yet, but I know when she gets it, she'll post it. I hope you had a good shopping week and getting ready for next week.

$5 off $25 or more Coupon

If you Publix takes Rite Aid as a competitor, then you need this coupon. It exp 3/31/10 but it can be printed out as many times as you need. Check with your store about how many you can use at one time. These types of coupons in my option are just free money towards your bill. Who doesn't need $5 taken off their bill? So if you here about them or see them.... GET THEM!!! As I find more, I will post them for you.

Fun Friday

Last night I got ALL of my coupons in order. PHEW!!!!! That was some work. My "main" coupon holder (a canceled check holder) was bulging and my basket was overflowing, so something had to be done. I did the "make-your own" coupon holder out of a 3-ring binder, folder, and 6"x9" envelopes. I hole punched the envelopes so they would stay in binder, then labeled them with corresponding labels from my main coupon holder. I removed all coupons, from each section one section at a time, from the main holder and went through them. I separated them and put the products we really use and love back in the main holder and the coupons I am saving just in case in the binder. ("Just in Case".... if this product goes BOGO or goes on a super sale, and it is something we can use) The folder is for fliers and coupon booklets. That way I don't have to cut everything that comes my way. This binder has clear pockets on the outside, so I put my free Publix shopping lists there. (You can get those where they put all fliers and/or booklets.) The inside pocket is for the inserts from the newspaper I haven't cut yet. That way it limits the amount cutting at one time and it also makes me stay up on my cutting because that pocket will only hold so much. So, let this be a warning to you all..... Stay on top of your coupon organization or it will "bury" you.

A Face-Lift

After much thought and help from my wonderful husband Clipping to Saving got a new look. I think it looks better and more inviting to new readers. For those of you who kn0w me well are probably thinking "Pink???", well I know. I really like the shopping bags and the "Shop Til I Drop" logo. Very fitting I thought, considering the only place I like to shop is the grocery store. Let me know what you think.

My Shopping Trip for the Week

I got to the store later than usual, but that okay I was watching a good friend's son. I had some big savings coupons and several manf/store coupon combs on BOGOs and sale items so I figured I would okay this week. I got two penny items so that means two transactions. My first transaction I spent $25.77 and saved $100.94 and my second transaction I spent $80.89 and saved $113.22. To be honest that's not really true... there is a coupon for $10 off a $50 BP gas card ($10 free gas) if you spend $25 or more in groceries. Around here I don't count that in grocery bill money, because it will be used for gas. So my true total spending is $66.66 and my true total savings $204.16. Wow, that's a lot here at my house. I got a lot of really cool deals so check "My Real Cool Deals" page to see them. I had more time to prepare for this trip, thank goodness because I didn't feel well yesterday. I hope next's is even better than this weeks.

Get Your Penny Item Coupon Here.....

For those of you who get the penny item at Publix.... the newspaper the State allows you one free online copy per week. I did it last week to try it out, then tried it again this morning... it works once a week. Save on .75 on getting a paper or $1.50 for 2 papers. You can print it out as many times as you want I guess.

1. click on picture... The State home page will open
2. above the name of the paper, is a link name "electronic (PDF)
3. in the yellow box, click "click here for one free day pass"
4. fill out form and then the paper will open
5. flip through paper until you find the Publix Penny item coupon
6. click on coupon and print it out

What a Treat! (next weeks BOGOs)

As I was looking yesterday at IHP I saw something really cool. She had the next week's BOGOs up . How cool is that?! She said she can't guarantee these, but she usually isn't wrong about much. Here at my house we are excited about the Fast Fixin' and Welches Grape juice. Check the ad here. I think this week's trip is going to be some exciting with the BOGOs and some of the flier sales. I'm stocking up on meds for the boys, lotion for one of them and more deodorant and body wash for my husband. He really doesn't need anymore, but I want to use the coupons before they expire at the end of this month.

I got my Coupons in the Mail

I made my first order from Coupon Clippers on Sunday, and got my order on Wednesday. I paid $9.34 for them, but I got so much more than what I paid for... I got 45 coupons with a savings value of $98.44. So I saved $89.10 when I buy these items. I bought coupons that I know I'm going to use and most of these items are on sale now, so I'm stocking up on meds for the boys mainly. This is a great place to get coupons you can't find out there in the coupon world and it really doesn't cost a whole lot to buy them and they ship every Tuesday. The coupons that matched up with the sales, I'm going to spread out over the next 2 weeks. It's going to be about $18 each time, but that's a lot of savings. I'll let you know what I get and what I save.

My Weekly Publix Trip

Yesterday was a rainy day outside. When we left it wasn't, but on the way home it was. Thankfully, God held off the rain long enough so I could get inside with groceries and kids. I bought a few items that made "My Really Cool Savings" list. A friend of mine came to shop with me so I could teach/help her start couponing again. She did well for her first time. She saved more than she spent so that's great. It's fun to watch someone do that for the first time. Hopefully next week's BOGO list will be better than this weeks. I am going to Winn Dixie to get some meat that is BOGO there. They usually have better meats that BOGO than Publix does. I love Publix but you go where you save the most money.

Monday Madness

New BOGOs

The new BOGOs are up at IHP (click here). There are many good BOGOs this week, but nothing we need here at my house. I know my mom will be excited about the 8 o'clock coffee going BOGO. I think this is going to be a little shopping trip for us. Maybe next week's BOGOs will do more for me than this week's. I really want Welch's grape juice to go on BOGO before the 20th of March.

Coupon Swap

Tomorrow is my monthly coupon swap with the parenting/play group that I attend. We meet each month and swap coupons while the children play on the indoor playground at McD's. I usually get some good coupons when I go, and get rid of coupons I don't need or want. That is a great way to get coupons you may need/want. Gather your friends each month (works better more towards the beginning, before coupons expire) and swap away. This way you aren't throwing away good coupons that someone else might need and you get a few you may have missed or have used up already. This is also a great time to swap tips, stories, and/or ideas about better couponing.

50% off ALL Kellogg's Cereal

I am already getting ready for this. Finding coupons to make them even cheaper. Who doesn't need more cereal? We go through a lot of cereal, especially now that my youngest is eating it all the time for breakfast or snacks. I know IHP (click here) has match ups that you can find. Some are printables. Go stock up on Kellogg's cereal, I'm going to.

Fun Friday

I found this cartoon and just laughed. My husband use to give a "hard" time about coupons and would tease me about going "crazy" over coupons. Until he came shopping one time and saw the numbers for himself. That trip was a good trip, we saved about $90 and spent a little over $20. He was amazed and impressed. What was even funnier was the man behind us "whisper" to his wife, "Did you see how much she saved?" That was the first time that happened to me. Saving money is important, and it can be fun and full of laughter too.

Saving More than Spending

Where do I start, let's see... as I was getting my list/budge it ready for the shopping trip to Publix, I figured I was going to probably spend somewhere between $50 and $60 after coupons. Which that in itself it's bad. So I stayed to my list, got maybe a few things that weren't on my list, but I figured I would be okay. I get to the check out line & freak myself out at first. I looked down and my bill was over $70 dollars, then I realized she wasn't finished with coupons, whew. When she finished putting in all the coupons my bill was $40.47 and I saved $166.72. That was so cool. I had 59 coupons worth over $100, plus my store savings. I don't know about you, but that's a lot of coupons for that poor woman to click. I even "prank" texted my husband and had him thinking I spent a lot of money. This was my BEST trip ever. I LOVE COUPONS!!! When I got home, I unpacked everything, put it on the counter and took a picture. That was over $200 worth of groceries for $40. You can't beat that. I had a lot of good coupons, but the item that sticks out the most is the deal I got was on Oscar Mayer Lunchables Subs. They were on sale 10/$10. (At Publix you don't have to buy 10 to get them for a dollar.) As I passed them, I remember I had a coupon for something like that, so I looked. The coupon was $1 off 1 and I had 10 of them. Those coupons were peelies on the macaroni n cheese box I bought last week and the week before. Cool, I got 10 of those lunchable things for free. That was a nice find. New Coupon Books

There has been talk on IHP and SS about 2 coupon books Publix should have. I found them today and grab a few. That was a nice find at the beginning of my shopping adventure. The nice thing about those books are the fact that I will be ablt to use most of the coupons in them. Sometimes when I find a coupon book I can only use a few of the many in the booklet. I'm looking forward to going through them and getting match ups that go with them, to save even more.
